DNA Lecture and Testing
Ugo Perego, MSc. the Director of Operations & Sample Collections of the non-profit Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation in Salt Lake City, Utah gave a lecture and conducted DNA testing at our Seminar 2007, for inclusion in the Foundation's free database. The database where our markings will end up is divided into three sections:
1) Y-Chromosome Database
2) Mitochondrial Database
3) Autosomal Database
Y-Chromosome Database
Since only males have Y-DNA, the Y-Database is ideal for surname research.
Mitochondrial Database
Sons and daughters inherit their mtDNA from their mothers, making the
mtDatabase ideal for maternal line research.
Autosomal Database
SMGF is pioneering the application of autosomal DNA for genealogical
purposes. Autosomal DNA is inherited from all of one's ancestors, making the
future Sorenson Autosomal Database a treasure trove of comprehensive
information found nowhere else in the world.
In order to participate in the DNA project people had to present their PEDIGREE CHART with four or more generations - all lines of family information. Click here to download a sample pedigree chart.
